About the author
A product of a family of diehard foodies, Tola Akerele’s love for culinary escapades runs deep. As the co-founder of Bogobiri House and founder of Orishirishi kitchen, her keen appreciation and passion for the Nigerian experience —music, food, art, and culture—are aptly demonstrated by the manner in which she has made it accessible to all. She embraces life with relentless energy and loves to travel in order to explore new cuisines and cultures. When not travelling, she can be found hosting dinner parties in her home, where her husband and children share her passion for food and communal experiences. Born in Lagos, Tola spent her formative years in Nigeria, but studied and worked in the United Kingdom for over twenty years before returning to the country of her birth. She is a proud indigene of Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria.
The Orishirishi Cookbook
I love this book, so much to learn and such an inspiration to explore the Nigerian cuisine! The book is so much more than a cookbook - such a joy to read, I love the pro verbs and mouthwatering photos.
Having not lived in Nigeria for over 20 years, I have tried repeatedly ( and failed) to replicate the Nigerian delicacies and dishes of my youth - until now!
Such a beautiful, easy and well written cook book. The photos and stories give you a feeling of Nigerian culture along side a surprisingly easy and practical to follow recipe which turns up a very tasty meal.
The only Nigerian cook book you will ever need. This is a great book with lots of great recipes and information. I highly recommend this book for anyone serious about exploring Nigerian cuisine.
